    Compensation: Per-word rate ($.07/word for News; $.04/word for Editorials/Reviews)

    About BluPetal News

BluPetal Media is the dedicated home for content that celebrates Boys’ Love, Girls’ Love, Shoujo, and Josei stories and the fandoms who love them. Our news wing, BluPetal News, provides the community with up-to-date updates on industry licenses, adaptations, and deep-dive critical analysis of the stories we love. We are looking for a dedicated writer to help us bridge the gap between "breaking news" and "fandom conversation."

    The Role

We are seeking a versatile writer who is as comfortable summarizing a licensing announcement as they are dissecting the character growth in a complex Josei series. You will be responsible for a steady output of content that keeps our readers informed and engaged.

    Weekly Deliverables:

    • News Articles (Approx. 300 words): Cover the latest industry news, including new license announcements, anime adaptation trailers, and mangaka updates.

    • Editorials & Reviews (Approx. 500 words): Provide critical perspectives on specific volumes, deep-dives into genre tropes, or recommendations for our community.

    • Frequency: You are expected to submit a total of one to four pieces per week (a mix of news, editorials, or reviews depending on the weekly news cycle).

    Responsibilities

    • Stay Plugged In: Monitor Japanese and English publishing news to identify the most relevant stories for our audience.

    • Authoritative Voice: Write with a blend of journalistic accuracy and fan-centric passion.

    • Brand Alignment: Ensure all content aligns with BluPetal’s focus on Boys’ Love, Girls’ Love, Shoujo, and Josei content.

    • Consistency: Adhere to established word counts while maintaining high-quality prose and impeccable grammar.

    Who You Are

    • A Niche Expert: You have a deep understanding of the distinctions between Shoujo and Josei and a broad knowledge of BL/GL history and modern trends.

    • Detail-Oriented: You can turn around clean, ready-to-publish copy that requires minimal editing.

    • Reliable: You thrive on a consistent weekly schedule and can manage your own time to meet the 4-post-per-week quota.

    • Professional Critic: You know how to provide constructive, insightful criticism while focusing on what makes a story resonate with its target audience.

    Compensation Structure

This is a freelance position paid on a per-word basis according to the content type:

    • News Articles: $.07 per word (typically ~$21.00 per 300-word article).

    • Editorials & Reviews: $.04 per word (typically ~$20.00 per 500-word article).
